📅 School Closure – MLK Jr. Holiday
Catawba County Schools will be closed on Monday, January 19, in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. Classes will resume on Tuesday. We hope our students, families, and staff enjoy the day as a time of reflection and service.



 

🎭 Creative Works Spring 2026 – Registration Now Open! 🎶
The Green Room Community Theatre is excited to offer a new session of Creative Works classes for Spring 2026! These after-school theatre programs are designed to build confidence, creativity, and performance skills for students in grades K–12.
This semester’s offerings include a variety of engaging classes such as Disney Scenes & Songs, Theatre 101, Musical Storytelling, Movement for the Actor, and an Audition Workshop for older students. Classes meet one afternoon per week and are taught by experienced instructors in a fun, supportive environment. CLASSES START JANUARY 13 but it's not too late to join!
All classes will culminate in a showcase performance, giving students the opportunity to share what they’ve learned on stage.

Startown Optimist Baseball – Registration Open Now!
Registration is now open for Startown Optimist Baseball! This program offers a fun, supportive environment for young athletes to learn the fundamentals of baseball, build teamwork skills, and enjoy the game.

Boys' PRIMETIME AAU Travel Basketball Tryouts for 5th through 12th grades will be held February 20 and 27 from 6-8 PM and on February 28 from 12-1:30 PM. For more info or to register for FREE tryout, email Coach Mac at hickoryprimetime@yahoo.com
 


💪 LIVESTRONG at the YMCA of Catawba Valley – New Sessions Begin in January!
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a free 12-week program designed to help adult cancer survivors regain strength, build endurance, and improve overall wellness after treatment. YMCA membership is included at no cost.
🗓️ Upcoming Sessions:
  • Lincoln County Family YMCA: Starts Jan 26
  • Hickory Foundation YMCA: Starts Feb 2
Additional 2026 sessions will also be offered at Phifer Family YMCA, Sally’s YMCA, and Hickory Foundation Y later in the year.
